Our take
What does Luna Rossa Sport smell like?
Prada spun its 2012 Luna Rossa into a Sport edition in 2015, with house perfumer Daniela Andrier at the controls. The published list runs to five notes, which is usually a good sign. Juniper berries and ginger open the show with a dry chill that smells a bit like a gin and tonic. Lavender follows. It's clean and slightly soapy, the way it is in classic fougères. Then the whole thing tips over. Vanilla and tonka take charge and pull the scent toward custard, a softness you don't expect from anything called Sport. So the name is misleading. What you actually get is a vanilla lavender, much closer to Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male than to a gym-bag freshie. It's just drier at the start and less musky at the bottom. Hours later the tonka is what remains, warm and faintly almondy.
When to wear it
Better in cool weather than in real heat, where the vanilla gets heavy. Two sprays on the neck will carry you through the day.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Fougère family. Luna Rossa Sport is one of 23 creations by Prada in our encyclopedia.
