Our take
What does Candy L'Eau smell like?
April 2013 brought Candy L'Eau, Prada's light version of the Candy released two years earlier. Daniela Andrier, who wrote the original, composed this one too. Léa Seydoux stayed on as the face. The opening changes everything compared with its older sibling. Lemon and mandarin add a burst of freshness the first Candy lacked. The heart centres on sweet pea, a powdery and slightly fruity flower that recalls good soap. The base keeps the line's markers. Benzoin, white musk and caramel are all there, though dosed with restraint. The caramel reads more like melted sugar than sticky toffee. The original Candy eau de parfum was warm, resinous and very sweet. Candy L'Eau takes the same skeleton out into daylight. It ends up sheerer and easier, and also less memorable. Still, it wears well on a warm afternoon where the original would feel heavy.
When to wear it
For spring and summer, at the office or on weekends. Three or four sprays since it doesn't last long.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Candy L'Eau is one of 23 creations by Prada in our encyclopedia.
