Our take
What does Musc smell like?
Reminiscence started out in 1970 with three founding scents: Patchouli, Ambre and Musc. The perfumer has never been named. Musc is sold as a women's fragrance, though plenty of men wear it too. The opening is soft and floral. Creamy ylang-ylang blends with unnamed white flowers. It smells of talc. The heart turns to almond and powder, a bit like marzipan or an old-fashioned hand cream. Then the musk settles in for good. Coumarin gives it a sweet hay facet and amber warms it. The whole thing clings to skin for hours. Compared with The Body Shop's White Musk, another hugely popular musk, the Reminiscence version is more powdery and less soapy. It's a wool-sweater scent, perfect when it's cold outside. That simplicity explains why it has sold for so long.
When to wear it
An everyday choice for autumn and winter. Two sprays on skin are enough, since the musk stays close yet lasts a long time.
It belongs to the Floral, Musky family. Musc is one of 20 creations by Reminiscence in our encyclopedia.
