Our take
What does Étoile de Rem smell like?
Reminiscence launched Étoile de Rem in 2008 as a 100 ml eau de toilette, described by the house as a solar floral. It spins off Rem, the marine vanilla scent from 1996 that made the brand’s name. Citrus and bergamot open it alongside a marine accord. You smell salty air and skin drying in the sun. The heart is generous. Jasmine, ylang-ylang and orange blossom form a fairly heady white bouquet, and coconut softens it with a sunscreen effect. The base blends vanilla, coumarin and musk. Coumarin adds a dry hay note that keeps it from getting cloying. It is more floral than Rem but shares its beach spirit. Some will find it dated. It still works for anyone who likes holiday perfumes without detours. The coconut is what lingers on the skin by evening.
When to wear it
For summer days on lightly tanned skin. Skip the air-conditioned office, where it quickly feels heavy.
It belongs to the Floral family. Étoile de Rem is one of 20 creations by Reminiscence in our encyclopedia.
