Our take
What does Jaïpur Homme smell like?
Boucheron launched Jaïpur Homme in 1998 as the male counterpart to its Jaïpur feminine. Annick Menardo, who also composed Bois d’Argent for Dior, created this eau de parfum. The bottle takes the shape of a bracelet, a nod to the jeweller behind the brand. The opening pairs cardamom with lemon, lime and bergamot. It feels fresh for a minute before the spices take over. Cinnamon and carnation make the heart warm and clove-like, and rose with jasmine softens them without hiding them. The base is the best part. Benzoin and tonka form a sweet amber, patchouli adds earth and cedar gives it a dry backbone. Less smoky than Yves Saint Laurent's Opium pour Homme, Jaïpur Homme is sweeter and cosier. It smells very late nineties, which you will either enjoy or not.
When to wear it
A spicy oriental for winter evenings and dinners. Two sprays are plenty because the trail is dense.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Spicy family. Jaïpur Homme is one of 18 creations by Boucheron in our encyclopedia.
