Our take
What does Les Cascades de Rochas Songe d'Iris smell like?
Rochas launched Songe d'Iris in summer 2013 as the second chapter of Les Cascades de Rochas, after Éclat d'Agrumes. In-house perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez composed it. The collection takes its cue from water and a Greek landscape, hence the bluish bottle. The opening is citrusy, with a clear bergamot that doesn't last. Iris and water lily share the heart. This iris has nothing earthy or lipstick-like about it. It stays light and almost damp. A fig milk accord wraps around it and adds a green, milky feel. White flowers fill out the bouquet. The surprise is in the base, where chocolate accents blend with musk and woods. The cocoa stays faint but warms everything up. Next to Guerlain's Iris Ganache, another gourmand iris, Songe d'Iris is much fresher and sheerer. Treat it as a summer splash, not a serious iris perfume.
