Our take
What does Gucci Première smell like?
Gucci launched Première in 2012 under creative director Frida Giannini. Blake Lively fronted the campaign and the name points to film premiere nights. No perfumer has been publicly credited. The brand lists six notes and no more. Bergamot and orange blossom open on a rather loud fruity start. On some skins it can feel shrill, but it fades fast. The heart gathers vague white flowers around a clean musk. Things get interesting in the base. A soft leather accord and smooth woods suggest suede, more muted than wild. Projection drops after the first hour. A lighter eau de toilette came later. Compared with Narciso Rodriguez For Her, another floral musk, Première smells less like bare skin and more like a new leather glove. The name says red carpet, but the drydown is surprisingly discreet.
When to wear it
For a dinner or a dressy evening in spring or autumn. Spray on skin rather than fabric, where the leather develops better.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody, Musky family. Gucci Première is one of 16 creations by Gucci in our encyclopedia.
