Our take
What does Solarissimo Levanzo smell like?
Azzaro introduced Solarissimo Levanzo in spring 2016 as the first of a sunny trilogy for men. The name comes from a small island off Sicily. The brand talked about the sun meeting the Mediterranean, and for once the scent matches the pitch. Passion fruit and juicy citron open it. It is tart and slightly exotic, which is unusual in a men’s fragrance. The heart goes aromatic. Lavender and basil suggest a dry garden at noon, with that peppery green of basil rubbed between your fingers. The base is more conventional, a quiet mix of cedar and patchouli. Next to Azzaro Chrome, the house’s other fresh scent, Levanzo is less aquatic and fruitier. Projection is modest, which is worth knowing before you buy. It smells good for two or three hours and then turns faint.
When to wear it
A holiday scent for hot days and the beach. Two sprays on the chest, and keep the bottle in your bag for the afternoon.
It belongs to the Citrus, Aromatic family. Solarissimo Levanzo is one of 24 creations by Azzaro in our encyclopedia.
