Our take
What does CK One Gold smell like?
Dressed in a bottle dipped in gold, CK One Gold came out in 2016 as a unisex spin on the 1994 classic. The perfumer isn't named. Fig dominates from the first spray, with bergamot and sage beside it. It's green and milky, more leaf than fruit. The heart mixes neroli, jasmine and violet without ever turning very floral. The base is drier than the original's: vetiver, patchouli and guaiac wood. Guaiac adds a smoky touch that lends some depth. The scent keeps the shared spirit of CK One, made for anyone to wear. It simply swaps the tea and citrus of 1994 for a more Mediterranean mood. Compared with CK One, Gold is woodier and less soapy, but also less fresh. Like the original, it's meant to be shared between partners and borrowed freely.
