Our take
What does Boss Bottled United smell like?
Boss Bottled United launched in May 2018 as a limited edition tied to the football World Cup. Coty described it as a reworking of the original Boss Bottled, and no perfumer is named in official sources. Forget the apple and cinnamon. The opening pairs orange with South African buchu, an aromatic leaf that smells of green blackcurrant and wild mint. The heart doubles down on freshness with spearmint and peppermint. Orris concrete softens them and adds a slightly powdery grain. The base is clean and current: vetiver and patchouli with cashmeran, which brings a felted woody effect. The comparison with Boss Bottled is telling. The original is warm and fruity, United is green and minty. They kept the bottle, not the smell. An Eau de Parfum version followed in 2021 for the Euros, with a stronger blood orange.
