Our take
What does Play for Her smell like?
Givenchy released Play for Her in August 2010, two years after the men's Play. Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac of Symrise composed the eau de parfum with Françoise Donche. Both scents share the same backbone: amyris wood, creamy and faintly smoky. The opening is light and fruity. White peach and bergamot meet a fresh peony. A grain of pink pepper wakes everything up. The heart heads for the islands with tiare flower. Its sunny smell recalls monoi oil, while magnolia keeps it airy. The base stays quiet with sandalwood and white musks. Compared with the men's Play, which is greener and drier, the women's version leans into a luxury beach mood. On skin the whole thing stays light and close. Nothing here is groundbreaking. Still, the amyris gives a soft texture you rarely find in mainstream florals.
