Our take
What does La Petite Robe Noire Velours smell like?
Guerlain added the Velours version to the Petite Robe Noire family in early 2019. The line is credited to Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. The opening keeps the black cherry of the 2012 eau de parfum, with bergamot and mandarin making it fizz. The news is in the heart. It is also where Velours earns its name. Violet, new to the collection, brings a powdery effect reminiscent of face powder. Rose supports it and almond extends the cherry's sweet side. The base stays true to the line with black tea, tonka bean and patchouli. Black tea keeps the sweetness dry, and the trail lasts well into the night. Compared with the 2012 Petite Robe Noire, Velours is more powdery and slightly less sweet. The name fits: it feels soft to the touch rather than glossy.
When to wear it
Wear it in the evening or to dinner, ideally in cold weather. Two sprays are enough since the cherry lingers.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. La Petite Robe Noire Velours is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
