What does La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto smell like?
In 2017 Guerlain dreamed up a rock and roll take on La Petite Robe Noire. The idea is simple: throw a biker jacket over an evening dress. Thierry Wasser built this floral eau de parfum around three rose materials. Rose water opens it on a fresh note, joined by a tart cherry that recalls the original. The heart brings together Grasse rose, May rose absolute and almond, which has become the line’s calling card. Then the base shifts character. A black leather accord moves in, softened by tonka and anchored by patchouli. It smells less like candy than the original eau de parfum. The rose is more forthright and the leather adds a welcome grit. Some will miss the black cherry that gave the older sister its charm. Others will finally find a Petite Robe Noire for grown-ups.
When to wear it
An autumn evening scent, ideally worn with a leather jacket to play along. Two sprays are enough because the leather spreads over time.
