What does Hugo Urban Journey smell like?
Hugo Boss launched Hugo Urban Journey in January 2018 as a flanker to 1995's Hugo. The bottle keeps the line's flask shape, here with a finish that mimics concrete. The opening is brisk and green. Citrus mixes with a Himalayan flower that the brand describes as fresh and lemony. The heart rests on black tea, aromatic and slightly dry, without the smokiness of Russian blends. Guaiac wood and sandalwood make up the base. Guaiac adds soft smoke and a woody roundness that keeps the scent close to the body. It stays urban and light, built for daytime. Compared with the original Hugo, which is more aromatic and greener, Urban Journey is woodier and calmer. Staying power is modest, like many fresh eaux de toilette at this price. It is a simple and pleasant daily scent that slips from memory quickly.
When to wear it
An office and weekend scent for warm weather. Three or four sprays, with a refresh after lunch.
