What does Grand Soir smell like?
Created by Francis Kurkdjian for his own house and launched in 2016, Grand Soir pays tribute to Parisian nights and is built around a single theme: amber. No floral detours, no showy freshness. The opening sets down labdanum straight away, a warm resin with a faintly leathery, animal edge. The heart wraps it in balsamic benzoin and an amber accord that give an almost vanilla-like roundness. The base of vanilla and tonka extends the warmth with a creamy softness hinting at almond and caramel. The construction is remarkably clean: each note reinforces the last, for an amber that is luminous and resinous rather than sugary, like a golden second skin.
When to wear it
Winter evenings and big occasions; it suits lovers of pure, resinous ambers, whatever their gender.
