Our take
What does Luna Rossa Ocean smell like?
Luna Rossa Ocean arrived in 2021 as the first Prada fragrance under the L’Oréal licence. Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm composed it, and it is a more nuanced aromatic fougère than the marine name suggests. The start is bright. Bergamot and pink pepper fizz while artemisia adds a green, camphorous bitterness. Then it turns silkier. Lavender and sage hold the fougère line, but powdery iris is the real star, paired with a suede accord and a pinch of saffron. Think very clean, pale leather. The base blends musk, Haitian vetiver and patchouli, with a quiet caramel that rounds things off without making it sweet. It suggests a cashmere sweater worn by the water more than the ocean itself. It is more refined than Acqua di Giò Parfum, and less refreshing.
When to wear it
Spring and summer, at the office or over lunch. Three or four sprays, though it sits close to the skin after two hours.
It belongs to the Fougère, Aromatic family. Luna Rossa Ocean is one of 23 creations by Prada in our encyclopedia.
