Our take
What does Loverdose Red Kiss smell like?
Diesel added Red Kiss to the Loverdose line in 2015, an eau de parfum in a red bottle. It follows the original Loverdose from 2011. According to the pyramid published by the brand, the opening brings together black currant, bergamot and apple. Black currant sets the tone, tart and slightly green. In the heart, orange blossom and apricot surround a toasted hazelnut that Diesel calls a crispy nut. That hazelnut is the best idea here. It hints at praline without sliding into syrup. The orange blossom keeps a low profile. The base is standard for a gourmand of the period. Expect patchouli, cocoa, vanilla and amber woods. Patchouli stops the whole thing from turning into candy. Next to the original Loverdose, which is more anise-driven and more vanillic, Red Kiss comes across fruitier and a little lighter. Longevity is decent without being remarkable. The perfumer was never made public.
When to wear it
Good for a date or an autumn evening. Two sprays on wrists and neck will do.
