Our take
What does L'Homme Rochas smell like?
Rochas released L'Homme Rochas in 2020, an eau de toilette by Bruno Jovanovic. Retailers file it under oriental fougère. The opening is sweeter than you'd expect. Blood orange and pineapple make a juicy mix, and cardamom adds a cool, peppery flash. The heart swings back to classic fougère with geranium, basil and juniper berry. That aromatic trio cuts the sugar from the opening. Suddenly it smells cleaner, close to a barbershop. The base leans on patchouli and tonka bean with a touch of moss. On skin, tonka wins out, soft and a little almondy. The pineapple up top recalls Creed's Aventus from a distance. L'Homme Rochas is sweeter, though, and has none of the birch smoke. Don't mix it up with L'Eau de Rochas Homme, a much older citrus scent from the same house.
When to wear it
Good for an autumn dinner or a weekend in town, with two or three sprays on the chest. The tonka base clings nicely to a wool sweater.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Fougère family. L'Homme Rochas is one of 21 creations by Rochas in our encyclopedia.
