Our take
What does Flowerbomb Midnight smell like?
Viktor & Rolf released Flowerbomb Midnight in 2019, pitching it as a night-time take on its best-seller. Retailers credit four perfumers: Dominique Ropion, Domitille Michalon-Bertier, Carlos Benaïm and Fanny Bal. The opening is all dark fruit. Blackcurrant fizzes first with a sour edge. Pomegranate follows and reads like thick red juice. Night-blooming jasmine sits at the heart, more fleshy than clean, while peony lightens it with a rosy note. The Flowerbomb idea is intact: a very sweet bouquet built to be noticed. Underneath, a soft musk and a fairly quiet vanilla let the fruit lead for a long time. Next to the 2005 Flowerbomb, Midnight is less powdery and less patchouli. It smells more like berry sorbet than candy floss. That is its best move and also its ceiling, because the jasmine eventually dissolves into the sugar.
When to wear it
A winter evening scent that sits well on a wool sweater or at the base of the neck. Two sprays are plenty since it projects hard for the first couple of hours.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Flowerbomb Midnight is one of 12 creations by Viktor & Rolf in our encyclopedia.
