Our take
What does Solarissimo Marettimo smell like?
Azzaro launched Solarissimo Marettimo in 2017. The name comes from Marettimo, one of the Egadi islands off Sicily. Quentin Bisch is credited as perfumer. It opens with citron and lemon, sharp and almost prickly like freshly grated zest. A sea water accord then takes over, salty and more mineral than aquatic. Haitian vetiver comes along with its green, slightly smoky tone. The base is simple. Cedar dries everything out and labdanum adds a light ambery warmth, like skin after a day in the sun. The formula is short and easy to read. There is no sweetness anywhere, which is rare in a designer summer release. Next to the softer, more floral Acqua di Giò, Marettimo feels drier and woodier. Longevity is typical of a summer scent, fine and nothing more.
When to wear it
A high summer eau de toilette to spray in the morning and refresh in the afternoon. It belongs on sunny weekends more than in an air-conditioned office.
It belongs to the Woody, Aquatic family. Solarissimo Marettimo is one of 24 creations by Azzaro in our encyclopedia.
