What does Guess 1981 Indigo smell like?
Guess extended its 1981 line in 2018 with Indigo, an aquatic floral. The women's version opens on fig and sea notes. You smell the green leaf more than the fruit, plus a pleasant salty touch. Lilac adds a springtime freshness. In the heart, iris and lotus stay light while narcissus brings a green edge that stops it from feeling too clean. The base is the surprise. Red wine and Pinot Noir grapes slip a fruity roundness over cedar and Haitian vetiver. The effect is subtle, like a glass left on a wooden table. Compared with Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue, Indigo is less lemony and woodier in the drydown. It has the limits of its price bracket. Expect a few hours of wear and little projection after the first half hour.
When to wear it
A daytime summer scent to spray on a t-shirt or a denim shirt. Reapply mid-afternoon.
