Our take
What does Place Vendôme smell like?
Boucheron named this one after its historic address on Place Vendôme, where the jeweller set up shop in 1893. The perfume came out in September 2013, composed by Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson. It opens on bright orange blossom made juicy by mandarin. A pinch of pink pepper adds some bite and a quiet rose tags along. Then the mood shifts. Honey arrives with jasmine, and a praline note gives the whole thing a smart candy-shop feel. Peony keeps a little air moving between those heavy materials. Benzoin brings resinous sweetness to the base while cedar holds the structure together. On skin it stays more luminous than gourmand for the first hour. Set it beside Prada Candy, another benzoin-led scent from the same years, and Place Vendôme reads far more floral and much less caramel.
When to wear it
An evening scent for autumn and winter, when the honey has room to stretch. One or two sprays are plenty, because the praline gets pushy in a heated room.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Place Vendôme is one of 18 creations by Boucheron in our encyclopedia.
