What does Black Phantom smell like?
Kilian Hennessy released Black Phantom in 2017 under its full name, Black Phantom "Memento Mori". Sidonie Lancesseur composed it. The Latin phrase is a reminder that we all die, and the house leans fully into that gothic mood. Rum opens the show, thick and sweet, with caramel that sticks to your fingers. Coffee arrives quickly. It's black and slightly bitter, softened by dark chocolate and powdery heliotrope. Almond supplies what the brand calls a cyanide accord, a bitter pit note that makes the scent more intriguing than simply edible. The base keeps sugar cane and a creamy sandalwood that smooths the finish. Compared with Mugler's A*Men, another famous coffee fragrance, Black Phantom is sweeter and has less tar. It lasts a long time and projects hard for the first two hours. Kilian pricing keeps it for true fans.
When to wear it
A cold-night scent to wear on a coat or a turtleneck. Two sprays at most, since the coffee fills a room fast.
