Our take
What does Vanille Fruitée smell like?
Founded in Grasse in the nineteenth century, Molinard lists Vanille Fruitée in its Les Éléments line as an eau de parfum. Retailers date it to 2015 and sell it as unisex. The opening has a small surprise. Bergamot is expected, but carnation is not, and its clove-like edge keeps the sugar from taking over. The heart is plainly gourmand. Tart raspberry blends with heliotrope, whose almond paste effect boosts the vanilla. Orchid stays in the background. The base combines vanilla pod, candy sugar, benzoin and white musk. It smells of pale caramel and warm skin. It is lighter than Mugler’s Angel and has none of its patchouli, but it stays openly candied. Longevity is fair and projection average. A sweet perfume that knows how to stay simple, and that is rarer than it sounds.
When to wear it
For autumn and winter under a chunky sweater. It also works on a first date with two sprays on the wrists.
It belongs to the Gourmand, Fruity family. Vanille Fruitée is one of 8 creations by Molinard in our encyclopedia.
