Our take
What does Sound of the Brave smell like?
Diesel added Sound of the Brave to the Only The Brave family in 2021. The bottle keeps the clenched fist first seen in 2009, this time in blue, and British rapper Skepta fronted the campaign. The house files it under amber fougère. The opening pairs lemon with Granny Smith apple and juniper. It is green, crunchy and a little sour. The heart is where things get interesting. Lavandin and bison grass, a wild grass that smells of sweet hay, give it a rounded freshness. Sage, rosemary and cardamom circle around without taking over. The base then settles into familiar mainstream territory with patchouli, vanilla, musks and amber woods. Nothing shocking here. Nothing new either. Compared with the 2009 original, which leans on leather, this flanker feels more modern and sweeter. The apple at the top also brings Saint Laurent's Y to mind.
When to wear it
Good for casual nights out and weekends from autumn through spring. Three sprays are enough since the amber base carries far.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Fougère family. Sound of the Brave is one of 14 creations by Diesel in our encyclopedia.
