Our take
What does Terra di Gioia smell like?
Terra di Gioia arrived from Armani in April 2021 with Barbara Palvin as the face. It is the warm, earthy counterpart to Acqua di Gioia, the marine fresh scent from 2010. Pear opens, soft and fizzy, backed by bergamot and mandarin. An almond blossom accord quickly adds a powdery, slightly sweet note. The heart rests on jasmine grandiflorum, fruity and velvety. A heliotrope accord brings a marzipan smell that makes everything very soft. The base relies on ambery woods and musks. The brand talks about dunes and sun-warmed rocks. On skin it mostly smells like clean amber warmth, not far from a body lotion. Acqua di Gioia is lemony and minty. Terra di Gioia is much softer and more powdery. What it lacks is one strong idea to set it apart.
