Our take
What does Le Bouquet de la Mariée smell like?
In 2015 Guerlain devoted two scents in Les Exclusifs to marriage. Le Plus Beau Jour de ma Vie is the eau de parfum. Le Bouquet de la Mariée is the extrait, sold in a 125 ml bottle at around 750 euros on release. Thierry Wasser created both. The opening is bright and a little prickly, with pink pepper, angelica and citrus. Angelica brings a green, earthy note that feels unexpected in a bridal perfume. The heart is a generous orange blossom paired with rose. Then comes the central idea: sweet almond that recalls the sugared almonds handed out to French wedding guests. Vanilla, patchouli, incense and white musks make up the base. The incense adds a thin thread of smoke and stops the sweetness from turning into candy. Next to Mon Guerlain, which leans on lavender and vanilla, this one plays up white flowers and pastry. It is hard to find today.
When to wear it
An extrait for a day that matters, such as a wedding or a celebratory dinner. One dab at the base of the neck lasts all day without filling the room.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand family. Le Bouquet de la Mariée is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
