Our take
What does Le Plus Beau Jour de ma Vie smell like?
In 2015 Guerlain released a perfume designed for brides. Thierry Wasser composed it in two versions: an extrait called Le Bouquet de la Mariée and this eau de parfum with its plain-spoken name. The opening blends angelica seeds and pink pepper with citrus. The heart tells the story. A sugared almond accord recalls the dragées handed out after a French wedding, wrapped in rose and orange blossom. Orange blossom was the old bridal crown flower, so the nod is deliberate. Patchouli and vanilla form the base, followed by white musks that keep it clean. A hint of incense quietly recalls the ceremony. The result is very sweet, maybe too sweet for some guests. Next to La Petite Robe Noire it reads whiter and more powdery, with less red fruit. Still, the same hand shows in the love of almond.
When to wear it
A daytime ceremony scent for spring. Two sprays on the neck and in the hair, no more, because the sugar climbs fast.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand family. Le Plus Beau Jour de ma Vie is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
