Our take
What does Boss Alive smell like?
Hugo Boss launched Boss Alive in February 2020. Annick Ménardo composed it. She had signed Boss Bottled Infinite the year before, and the two share a family likeness. The opening is fruity and spiced: apple, plum and blackcurrant dusted with cinnamon. Think of an apple tart fresh from the oven, minus the butter. The heart is less expected. Jasmine meets thyme, a herb you rarely find in mainstream women's perfumes, and it brings a dry freshness. The base rests on vanilla, sandalwood and cedar, plus a smooth and slightly milky olive wood. Some sources put the vanilla in the top, but you mostly notice it at the end. It's an easy wear, more comforting than seductive. It is still on sale.
When to wear it
