Our take
What does Boss Orange Man smell like?
Hugo Boss launched Boss Orange Man in 2011 with Orlando Bloom as the face. It answers the women's Boss Orange and targets a relaxed man, more jeans than suit. No perfumer was ever announced. Red apple kicks things off, sweet and juicy. Coriander gives it a spiced apple pie feel. The heart is more surprising. Sichuan pepper tingles a little and incense brings a dry smoke that is clearer than you would expect in such a mainstream masculine. The base pairs vanilla with bubinga wood, an African timber the brand cites as its inspiration. It stays light overall and does not last long, like much of this range. Compared with Boss Bottled, which also uses apple, Orange Man is sweeter and less woody. The incense still gives it a bit of personality that Bottled lacks.
When to wear it
A weekend scent for spring and autumn that needs no thought. Plan to respray in the afternoon because it fades quickly.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Boss Orange Man is one of 35 creations by Hugo Boss in our encyclopedia.
