Our take
What does Alien Fusion smell like?
Mugler released Alien Fusion in 2019 in the Alien talisman bottle tinted red. Dominique Ropion, co-author of Alien in 2005, composed it with Fanny Bal. The opening is spicy. Ginger and cinnamon bring instant warmth, close to a bakery, without much sugar at first. The heart pairs orange blossom with tuberose. The tuberose stays creamy and fairly restrained while orange blossom adds a honeyed glow. The base sets Alien's signature white amber against a thick vanilla. That's where the scent gains volume, and it gains a lot. Longevity is very long, especially on fabric. The red bottle gives fair warning. Alien bet on sambac jasmine and a sunny woody amber. Fusion pulls it toward spicy oriental, warmer and more gourmand. If Alien feels shrill to you, this turn might win you over.
When to wear it
For winter nights and big occasions. One or two sprays at most, as it carries far.
