Our take
What does L'Air du Paradis smell like?
A limited 50 ml release, L'Air du Paradis came out from Nina Ricci in spring 2018. Calice Becker composed this eau de toilette. The bottle is tinted orange like a sunset sky, and the box carries illustrations by Martyna Zoltaszek. Passionfruit and kaffir lime open the scent. The acidity is frank and a little sharp, far from the sugary apples that built the brand's reputation. The heart turns to frangipani and jasmine. Frangipani brings a creamy floral that recalls sun oil. The base relies on driftwood and a solar accord. Together they smell like dry salty skin after a beach day. Next to Nina, the candied apple from 2006, L'Air du Paradis feels more grown-up and less gourmand. As a limited edition it is hard to find now. That's a shame, since it was one of the more interesting ideas in the line.
When to wear it
For summer and holidays, in daytime. Two sprays on bare skin, then a top-up late in the afternoon.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. L'Air du Paradis is one of 20 creations by Nina Ricci in our encyclopedia.
