Our take
What does Deci Delà smell like?
Nina Ricci launched Deci Delà in 1994, right in the middle of the fruity chypre wave. It has since left the shelves, which has earned it a small cult following. The opening goes all in on fruit. Raspberry, peach and apricot make a juicy, almost candied accord. Boronia, an Australian flower that smells of violet and tea, adds something stranger. The heart stays light and floral with jasmine and freesia. Powdery iris joins them, and an unexpected hazelnut brings gourmand roundness. Then the base shifts towards a modern chypre. Patchouli, sandalwood and styrax give it relief while vanilla softens the finish. Mitsouko comes to mind for its peach over woods, but Deci Delà is sweeter and younger. The hazelnut is the detail people remember. It carries the mark of the 90s, which will please the nostalgic.
When to wear it
A daytime scent for spring and autumn, fruity enough for a date. Two sprays are enough from a vintage bottle, which often runs stronger than you'd think.
It belongs to the Chypre, Fruity family. Deci Delà is one of 20 creations by Nina Ricci in our encyclopedia.
