Our take
What does Olympéa Aqua smell like?
Paco Rabanne spun off Olympéa in 2018 with this Eau de Parfum Légère, composed by Loc Dong and Fanny Bal. The idea is still the salted vanilla of the 2015 original. Everything is lighter here. Clementine and lemon blossom give a juicy, slightly tart start. In the heart, water jasmine and water lily suggest wet flowers in the sun, and watery notes push the freshness further. The base keeps the line's signature of salt, vanilla and ambergris over soft cashmere wood. You notice the salt more than in Olympéa and the vanilla less. It ends up smelling like skin drying off after a swim. It isn't very original, but it's pleasant and well judged. Fans of the original might miss its richness. Note that there's an older Olympéa Aqua eau de toilette with different notes.
