Our take
What does Oriental Dream smell like?
Reminiscence launched Oriental Dream in 2021. The French house, known for its 1970s-style patchouli perfumes, tries its hand at oud here. The eau de parfum is unisex. It opens with ylang-ylang and cashmere wood. You get a sunny flower set on something soft and woolly. Clove leads the heart. It brings a spicy warmth that benzoin turns almost sweet. Incense wood adds a thin layer of smoke. The base rests on oud, sandalwood and amber. The oud stays tame, more woody than animal. Compared with Acqua di Parma’s Colonia Oud, Oriental Dream is spicier and sweeter. It has less freshness at the top. Major retailers often list it as out of stock, which makes it hard to try. The bottle is plain and the price stays reasonable. On skin, the clove lasts longest. Hours later it still smells of mulled wine spices.
When to wear it
A winter evening scent for skin and a scarf. Two sprays are enough because the clove projects a lot.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Woody family. Oriental Dream is one of 20 creations by Reminiscence in our encyclopedia.
