Our take
What does Dance with Repetto smell like?
Repetto launched Dance with Repetto in 2018, written by three Firmenich perfumers: Annick Menardo, Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp. The house files it under vanilla orientals. The opening smells like a pastry shop. A macaron accord blends with raspberry, while bergamot and freesia let in some air. The magnolia barely registers. In the heart, heliotrope brings its almond and powder side as peony and jasmine stay light. Pineapple is the odd one out. It adds a juicy, slightly sour streak to all that sugar. The base rests on Madagascar vanilla and tonka bean, with quiet patchouli giving it shape. Next to Lancôme's La Vie est Belle, another well-known gourmand patchouli, Dance with Repetto is less dense and more powdery. It keeps the pale pink feel of a ballet shoe. Its sweetness is closer to a bakery than a fruit bowl.
When to wear it
A gourmand for cool days, from Sunday afternoon tea to a quiet dinner. Two sprays on the wrists are plenty.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber family. Dance with Repetto is one of 5 creations by Repetto in our encyclopedia.
