Our take
What does Le Ballet Blanc smell like?
Le Ballet Blanc reached Sephora on 30 January 2017. Repetto drew on Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and the bottle borrows the shape of a swan's wing. Three perfumers signed the formula: Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Nicolas Beaulieu and Sophie Labbé. It opens on zesty mandarin and a tart blackberry. That fruit is shy and gone within minutes. Peony takes over, fresh and slightly rosy, with sambac jasmine adding light. The heart smells like freshly cut flowers more than a powdery bouquet. The base is silky white musk with a light touch of ambergris. Longevity is what you'd expect from an eau de toilette. Count on three or four hours before it fades into the skin. It barely changes over time, which makes it restful but a little linear. Next to Chloé and its powdery rose, it reads younger and more see-through.
When to wear it
An everyday floral for spring and summer. Spray it on a cotton scarf, where it lasts longer than on skin.
It belongs to the Floral, Musky family. Le Ballet Blanc is one of 5 creations by Repetto in our encyclopedia.
