Our take
What does Zadig smell like?
Zadig & Voltaire unveiled Zadig in March 2025, at the start of Paris Fashion Week, with Louise Robert as the face. Amandine Clerc-Marie and Florian Gallo composed it. The refillable bottle borrows the brand's wings. It opens on black and white sesame. The effect is toasted and slightly oily, like seeds just out of a hot pan. Ginger wakes up that opening. It smells unusual for a mainstream launch, and that is a compliment. In the heart, orange blossom and neroli bring light and stop the sesame from turning into pastry. The base leans into sweetness with roasted vanilla, creamy sandalwood and a chantilly accord. The vanilla has a slightly burnt edge that echoes the sesame. It lasts well on fabric. Next to Yves Saint Laurent's Libre, which cuts its orange blossom with lavender, Zadig feels softer and clearly more gourmand.
When to wear it
Wear it in cold weather on a sweater or scarf, where the sesame lasts for hours. Three sprays cover an evening.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Zadig is one of 8 creations by Zadig & Voltaire in our encyclopedia.
