Zadig & Voltaire launched This is Him in 2016 alongside its feminine twin, This is Her. Nathalie Lorson and Aurélien Guichard composed the eau de toilette. Black pepper and grapefruit open together. It is dry and lively with a bitter edge. The heart swings toward incense and vanilla, an unusual pairing for a men’s scent at this price. The incense smokes without weighing anything down. The vanilla softens it and makes it plush. The base rests on a milky, almost creamy sandalwood. Next to Viktor & Rolf’s Spicebomb, This is Him is less sweet and less loud. It suits men who want warmth without the bomb effect. On skin, the incense comes back late in the day. The milky sandalwood is the stage most people notice and compliment. It is also the best part of the ride.

For autumn and winter evenings. Three sprays on the neck and chest.
