Our take
What does Brit Sheer smell like?
In 2007 Burberry spun Brit, its 2003 floral, into a lighter version called Brit Sheer. Émilie Coppermann composed a fruity eau de toilette aimed at a young crowd. The opening is like a bowl of pale fruit. Yuzu, mandarin and lychee mingle with pineapple leaf, which brings a juicy green rather than sugar. A little grape hovers behind them. The heart lines up peony, peach blossom and sweet pea alongside a crunchy nashi pear. The base is very thin. A white musk and some amyris wood are enough to hold it up. Nothing weighs anything, and that is the point. Compared with the original Brit and its warm vanilla base, Sheer goes for poolside freshness. It is a beginner's perfume and makes no secret of it. Its staying power is short, and you know it within the first hour.
When to wear it
Spray it generously in summer, after a shower or before the beach. Five sprays is not too many, and a travel atomiser in your bag helps.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Brit Sheer is one of 20 creations by Burberry in our encyclopedia.
