Our take
What does Brit for Men smell like?
Burberry released Brit for Men in 2004, alongside the Brit line. Antoine Maisondieu of Givaudan composed this eau de toilette. The bottle wears the house check on frosted glass. The opening is spicy and fresh. Green mandarin and bergamot bring zest, while ginger and cardamom warm things up at once. The heart gets drier, with cedar and nutmeg up front. A wild rose hovers in the background and softens the mix. Then comes the base, which splits opinion. Tonka bean and grey musk create a powdery effect that some compare to baby powder. Others find it as comforting as a wool sweater. Burberry London for Men, launched two years later, leans harder on tobacco and leather. Brit stays softer and easier to wear every day. Its longevity sits in the middle of the pack, around a working day.
When to wear it
A quiet spicy scent for autumn and winter, at work or in the evening. Three sprays, as it stays close to the skin.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Brit for Men is one of 20 creations by Burberry in our encyclopedia.
