Our take
What does Promesse smell like?
Cacharel launched Promesse in 2005, composed by Carlos Benaïm and Sophie Labbé. It came eleven years after Eden, in an easygoing fruity floral register. The top pairs bergamot and mandarin with a juicy, slightly tart blackberry that sets the tone. The heart stays sheer. Jasmine is light and the orchid mostly decorative, while violet adds a powdery, candy-like touch. Cedar, sandalwood and musk form the base over a pale amber. Nothing heavy here. It is a skin scent, fairly demure, that lasts a few hours before fading out. It has the modest charm of mid-2000s fruity florals. Promesse has been discontinued: it is gone from the Cacharel range and only turns up at a few resellers.
When to wear it
Spring and summer, daytime, no special occasion needed. Four sprays are not too many since it stays quiet.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Promesse is one of 20 creations by Cacharel in our encyclopedia.
