What does Her Intense smell like?
Burberry launched Her Intense in 2019, a year after Her. Francis Kurkdjian composed both and calls it a fruity floral gourmand. In his view, this version fills in the airy side of the original without weighing it down. The opening keeps Her’s blackberry, juicier now, with a cherry that leans towards candy and darker red berries. The heart adds creamy jasmine and powdery violet, which makes the fruit feel more grown up. The base is where it really differs. Benzoin brings a resinous, slightly vanilla warmth, and cedar stops the whole thing from turning into jam. It smells like confectionery, but well controlled. Against La Vie est Belle, the other big gourmand of the decade, Her Intense is fruitier and less praline. Don’t mix it up with the later strawberry version sold under a similar name.
When to wear it
Wear it in winter, for evenings or weekends, on a coat to stretch out the benzoin. Two sprays are enough because it is dense.
