Our take
What does Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss smell like?
In September 2011 Cacharel gave Amor Amor, its big 2003 hit, an after-dark version. Forbidden Kiss keeps the line's youthful tone and slips in coffee. Grapefruit and mandarin open loudly. Pink pepper sharpens them with a small prickle. Then the coffee arrives, roasted but openly sweet. It sits on creamy frangipani and a fresher peony. The pairing is a little startling at first sniff. The base is simple: white musk, vanilla and a light woody accord. This is where the perfume is at its nicest, soft and almost milky. The coffee recalls the one in Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium, launched three years later, only much thinner. Cacharel never named the perfumer. What comes through is an attempt to age the Amor Amor audience slightly without losing it. On skin, the vanilla drydown is the part people remember.
When to wear it
For a winter evening or a first date. Two sprays on the neck are plenty, as the coffee spreads quickly.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand family. Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss is one of 14 creations by Cacharel in our encyclopedia.
