Our take
What does Sì Rose Signature smell like?
Armani introduced Sì Rose Signature in spring 2016 as a collector’s edition of Sì, which launched in 2013. Julie Massé kept the original structure and placed two roses at its centre. Bergamot and mandarin open briefly. Blackcurrant soon dominates with its green, slightly sulphurous edge that recalls a crushed bud. Then May rose and Turkish rose share the heart. The first is fresh and honeyed, the second spicier. Freesia lights them with a clean note. The base is classic Sì with patchouli, vanilla and ambrette. Powdery iris and apricot-scented osmanthus now enrich it. The drydown keeps the line’s chypre outline. Next to Sì, which is rounder and more vanilla-heavy, Rose Signature reads as more floral and fresher. It suits anyone who found the original too sweet. The rose also gives it a more grown-up feel on skin.
