Our take
What does Turquoise Summer smell like?
Escada releases a limited summer edition every year, and Turquoise Summer was the 2015 one. As with Rockin’ Rio in 2011, the recipe is a beach cocktail in a blue bottle. The opening is loud with fruit. Pineapple, strawberry and raspberry land together while blackcurrant adds a sour edge. Picture a sweet fruit salad left in the sun for an hour. The heart turns floral without losing its sugar. Violet brings a candy note, orange blossom adds light and peach stays velvety. Vanilla, sandalwood and musk form the base. It is creamy and soft, calmer than the start. There is nothing complex here, and that is not the point. Turquoise Summer was meant to make you smile on holiday and then vanish with the season. It is gone from stores, though resellers still have it.
When to wear it
For beach days and long afternoons on a terrace. On warm skin it blooms fast but fades within three or four hours.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Turquoise Summer is one of 11 creations by Escada in our encyclopedia.
