Our take
What does Fiesta Carioca smell like?
Every summer since the 1990s, Escada has released a fruity limited edition. Fiesta Carioca, in 2017, celebrated twenty-five years of those summer collections with a Brazilian theme. The perfumer was not disclosed. Passion fruit and red raspberry lead from the first spray, juicy and very sweet. A violet leaf thread keeps it from turning into pure syrup. The heart talks about flowers, but the fruit stays in front. Passionflower, orange blossom and jasmine hover in the background. The musk and cedar base is barely there. Next to earlier Escada editions such as Rockin' Rio or Sunset Heat, Fiesta Carioca brings few surprises. One reviewer at launch got about three hours of wear. The bright bottle does most of the work here. The scent itself is a sweet fruit punch that fades by mid-afternoon, which is fine for a beach bag.
