Our take
What does Candy Love smell like?
Escada released Candy Love on 1 November 2020, first through travel retail in Europe and the Americas. Like most of the house's seasonal releases under Coty, it was a limited edition. Amandine Clerc-Marie and Nicolas Bonneville composed the eau de toilette. The bottle is the brand's heart shape, glossed in pink and red. The opening does exactly what the name says. You get a red apple coated in cooked sugar, with green mandarin adding a little sourness. The centifolia rose in the heart is shy. On many skins it barely registers, because the sugar takes over. The base is a milky vanilla that smells like cream straight from the siphon. Compared with Nina by Nina Ricci, the other famous apple on the shelf, Candy Love is creamier and less tart. It is a sweet treat and makes no attempt at depth.
When to wear it
Best in winter, when cold air tames the sugar. Longevity is average, so keep the bottle in your bag for an afternoon top-up.
It belongs to the Gourmand, Fruity family. Candy Love is one of 11 creations by Escada in our encyclopedia.
