Our take
What does Quatre en Rouge smell like?
Boucheron and Interparfums launched Quatre en Rouge in April 2019. The red bottle echoes the jeweller's red ceramic Quatre ring. Mylène Alran and Michel Almairac, both at Robertet, composed it. The opening is very fruity: red apple, pear, bergamot and mandarin. Blackcurrant takes over in the heart. Rose and iris come with it and add a powdery grain. The base is the most gourmand part. Raspberry and marshmallow sit beside patchouli and musk, giving a candy effect over woods. The patchouli hints at the structure of a fruity chypre, minus the oakmoss. It stays very sweet and feels younger than the rest of the line. Compared with Quatre en Rose from the year before, Quatre en Rouge is more gourmand and less floral. It debuted in travel retail as a 50 ml eau de parfum.
When to wear it
