Our take
What does Hugo Iced smell like?
Early in 2017 Hugo Boss added Iced to the Hugo line, which started in 1995 with the famous canteen bottle. No perfumer is named. The bottle keeps that military flask shape, here in matte metallic grey. The top is blunt. Iced mint leaves and wild tea make it feel like opening a freezer in midsummer. The heart moves through bitter orange and juniper, which bring back some aromatic bitterness. The base stands on one pillar, Indian vetiver, dry and slightly smoky. The formula is short and easy to read, with only five listed notes. Nothing in it needs explaining. The original Hugo Man relied on green apple and fir in a very green register. Iced is colder and less fruity. It owns its role as an affordable summer scent. Nobody expects depth here and it offers none.
When to wear it
For hot days, the gym or the beach. Four or five sprays, because it evaporates quickly.
It belongs to the Aquatic, Aromatic family. Hugo Iced is one of 35 creations by Hugo Boss in our encyclopedia.
